　Rokkasho-mura is developing as an international science city by promoting the
nuclear fuel cycle business to support development of next-generation energy
sources and by sponsoring ITER.
The Cultural Exchange Plaza (Swany) was built as a core facility for community
cultural development with a view to the 21st century. At this plaza, we hold fu-
nctions for international exchange (attracting new residents and promoting visits
by international technical experts ), functions that serve as a forum for nuclear
fuel cycle facilities and international conferences related to ITER, and functions
for cultural activities by area residents and human resources development.

The Big Hall has excellent acoustics and facilities for simultaneous translation of
up to six languages. The plaza also has large, luxurious conference rooms with
sparkling chandeliers that can be used for all sorts of events including wedding
receptions,Japanese-style rooms for training purpose, and even a library.
In our management of this wonderful "Swany" plaza, we put every effort into fa-
cilities operation in order to meet the needs of our users. It is our hope that the
plaza will fulfill its true potential by becoming a center for dissemination of infor-
mation in the 21st century.
